Het Museo de la Miel: All About Bees and Honey

A Museum Dedicated to Beekeeping

The Museum of Honey, located in the former Hermandad de Labradores building in Colmenar, offers a comprehensive look into the world of bees and honey in the Málaga region. Spanning nearly 400 square meters across two floors, the museum features thematic exhibits on beehives, bees, beekeeping, hive products, and, of course, the delicious Málaga honey.

The Origins and Mission of the Museum

The building, provided by the Colmenar municipality, not only houses the museum but also serves as the official headquarters of the Asociación Malagueña de Apicultores (Málaga Beekeepers’ Association). This association, the driving force behind the project, is also responsible for the museum’s daily operations.

An Abundance of Educational Elements

The Museum of Honey offers an engaging educational experience with informative panels, seven large screens, and life-size beehive replicas. A striking highlight of the exhibition is a massive bee model over two meters tall. Visitors gain insight into the lives of bees, their vital role in the ecosystem, and the valuable products they produce.

The Fascinating World of Bees and Beekeeping

The exhibition takes visitors through the life cycle of bees, the intricacies of beehives, and the art of beekeeping. The impressive visual elements, including large screens and detailed replicas, make this educational journey both captivating and memorable.

Opening Hours

The museum is open:

  • Tuesday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
